CORVALLIS, Ore. – Fall rains bring out wild mushrooms in abundance, supporting a fast-growing industry, which exports products worth more than $6 million in Oregon. 

Steve Carpenter will dig into the bounty at the root of this business at the Corvallis Science Pub on November 13. Science Pub begins at 6 pm in the Old World Deli, 341 2^nd St. in Corvallis and is free and open to the public.

Come and learn about what mushrooms are, how they make a living, how to identify them and the different types that thrive on Marys Peak. Grass Roots Books will have copies of Carpenter’s book, “Mushrooms of Marys Peak and Vicinity,” for sale.

The president of Pacific Analytical Laboratory in Philomath, Carpenter teaches mushroom identification classes locally and provides mushroom science lectures and workshops yearly at the Yachats Mushroom Festival.
