OSU came in at the top of a list of 25 of the safest colleges in the United States. The factors considered in the rankings included campus size (at least 1,000 enrolled students), type of campus, its location, types of reported crime weighed by severity and divided by enrollment, and whether crime data was available from schools. Your Local Security referenced the US Department of Education’s Campus Safety and Security Survey as well as the FBI Uniform Crime Report for the cities hosting each campus.

The ranking cited Oregon State University’s campus safety information page, as well as the Department of Public Safety and its close relationship with the Women’s Center and Counseling and Psychological Services. No other Oregon university was included in the rankings.
