Oregon State University is now an institutional member of Campus Compact, a national organization dedicated to providing programs, tools and resources that support the institution in building knowledge, skills and capacity for community and civic engagement. As part of this new relationship, Oregon State employees and students are invited to participate in the development of a virtual platform that will help connect universities and colleges in promoting democratic knowledge and engagement, and encouraging civic learning.

The Higher Education Democracy Exchange (HEDx) platform will include a civic credential clearinghouse that connects students and employees to professional development opportunities; a civic indicator dashboard that pulls together data from participating colleges focused on supporting and advancing democracy; resource hubs that will provide tools for civic and community-based practices; and a civics expert network that will be a platform for peer-to-peer connections.

With the help of campus input, Campus Connect and the American Association of Colleges and Universities will be developing the platform in the coming months, with a public release expected in summer of 2026. To contribute to the design and development of the HEDx platform, and to receive updates on its progress, sign up here and learn more.
