Oregon State University’s Pacific Islander Association is hosting the third annual Pasifika Fest on Saturday, May 10. This cultural night celebrates the richness and diversity of Pacific Islander cultures through performing arts, literature, poetry, music, dance and food. The event is designed to raise awareness about and celebrate Pacific Islander student and community traditions, histories and identities at OSU and beyond.

A central goal of the event is to create a greater sense of community and connection for Pacific Islanders within the OSU community. It is held each year during Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Month. The event will feature live island music, a DJ, food trucks, shave ice, island vendors, resource tables showcasing Pacific Islander community organizations, Pacific art and book exhibits in the SEC lobby, a weaving demonstration, live drumming, a raffle and various activities.

Doorsopen at 3 p.m. in the SEC Plaza. Dance and song performances begin at 5 p.m. This year, the event features dances from the islands of Aotearoa/New Zealand, Fiji, Hawai'i, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Tahiti, Tuvalu and Tonga.

The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
