CORVALLIS - Oregon State University is working with KVO Public Relations of Portland to assist the university in conducting a public affairs campaign to elevate the OSU College of Engineering into one of the top 25 such colleges in the nation.

Oregon political, industry and education leaders are pushing the state's universities to create a top tier college of engineering in Oregon as well as double the number of engineering graduates in the state.

"In both an economic and education sense, Oregon is in critical need of a top 25 college of engineering," said Ron Adams, dean of the OSU College of Engineering. "We are uniquely qualified to help the state achieve its goals by building on our 111-year tradition, our faculty and alumni resource base, and our comprehensive research and teaching programs. No other institution in Oregon can offer what we offer."

KVO Public Relations of Portland specializes in public relations, online marketing and Web content creation for business-to-business and consumer clients. KVO is a subsidiary of Fleishman-Hillard, Inc., the fifth-largest public relations firm worldwide and the largest in the United States. Michael Brown, director of consumer affairs for KVO, will direct the firm's efforts. KVO is working with Cappelli, Miles, Wiltz, Kelly, OSU's advertising agency of record.

KVO's services will be funded by private gifts, Adams said.
