CORVALLIS - Oregon State University has named Jamie LeGore its first marketing manager for conferences - an effort to bring state and national conferences to Corvallis.

LeGore had been conference services manager in the Office of Conferences and Special Events at OSU. She is a graduate of the OSU College of Business and is enrolled in the university's MBA program. Last year, she was recognized as the outstanding new professional in the field by the Association of Collegiate Conferences & Special Events International, and recently was elected to the board of directors for that organization.

The completion of the Hilton Garden Inn on campus - combined with the CH2M-HILL Alumni Center and LaSells Stewart Center - gives OSU one of the top on-campus conference facilities in the country. Kavinda Arthenayake, the director of conferences and community relations at OSU, called LeGore's hiring the next major step in making OSU a "conference destination."

"We have the facilities, but the conferences won't come here on their own," he said. "Jamie has the talent and drive to do the things necessary to identify the target audiences and market the university and city as an attractive place for conferences."

Among LeGore's responsibilities will be to develop a marketing plan for conferences, represent OSU at trade shows, and to work with other marketing professionals at OSU, the Hilton Garden Inn, and the city of Corvallis.
