CORVALLIS, Ore. - The College of Engineering at Oregon State University recently recognized and honored some of its faculty, staff and students with awards and grants at the college's annual Engineering Breakfast.

"Building an extraordinary College of Engineering here at Oregon State is all about bringing exceptional people together as part of the team," said Ron Adams, dean of engineering at OSU. "I'm proud of these men and woman and the expertise and excellence they bring to our program."

The awardees included:

  • Kami Vaniea, undergraduate student in computer science, received the Burgess/Tektronix Award;

     

  • Mike Phillips, graduate student in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the Graduate Teaching Assistant Award;

     

  • Jose Silva, graduate student in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the Graduate Research Assistant Award;

     

  • Cindy Olson, Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, received the Classified Employee Award;

     

  • Jan Mosley, Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, and Fran Saveriano, Department of Chemical Engineering, each received a Professional Faculty Award;

     

  • Lewis Semprini, professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, received the Alumni Professor Award;

     

  • Karti Mayaram, professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the Research Award;

     

  • Skip Rochefort, professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, received the Austin-Paul Award;

     

  • David Porter, professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, received the Engelbrecht Young Faculty Award;

     

  • Tom Dietterich, professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the Research Collaboration Award;

     

  • Greg Baker, professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, received the Loyd Carter Award.
