CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State University Robotics Club will host an open demonstration of their “Rover Challenge”entry on Saturday, May 10 – part of a national competition among university students to design and build the next generation of Mars rovers.

The event will be at the Arts and Crafts Building at the Benton County Fairground, where from 11 a.m. to about 2 p.m. the rover will work to perform tasks in geology, soil analysis, emergency navigation and construction. The demonstration is free and open to the public.

"This competition is really challenging, but we have an excellent group of engineers participating and great support from our sponsors,” said Ryan Albright, a sophomore in electrical engineering and project leader.

“The Oregon Space Grant Consortium has funded the entire project and been there for us every step of the way,” Albright said. “I can’t speak for the other teams, but I know that our rover will excel in all of the challenges, and we are ready to compete to win."
