CORVALLIS, Ore. - Open auditions for Oregon State University Theatre's popular summer event, Bard in the Quad, will take place May 15-16 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Withycombe Hall Main Stage Theatre, 2901 S.W. Campus Way, Corvallis. Call-backs may be held May 17, if needed.

Bard in the Quad is an annual production featuring Shakespeare plays in a casual, outdoor summer atmosphere. The 2017 production will be the romantic comedy "Two Gentlemen of Verona."

Auditions are open to all OSU students, faculty, staff and area community members. The production will be in the style of a Wild West melodrama featuring bold physical comedy, music, dance and a dog.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and improvisational games. Contact the director in advance if you are able to play an instrument. Director Elizabeth Helman hopes to cast an ensemble of 12-14 performers.

Rehearsals for Bard in the Quad will begin with a read-through June 17 and then run Sundays through Thursdays starting June 25. Performances are scheduled Aug. 3-6 and Aug. 10-14. All cast members must be able to attend all tech rehearsals (July 29 to Aug. 2) and performances.
