Kids' access to recess varies greatly (Hechinger Report)

“When we take that away, we’re not working in our own self-interest,” said William Massey, an assistant professor at Oregon State University and a researcher who focuses on play, physical activity and child development. “If your goal is to have more regulated and engaged, productive kids in the classroom, removing opportunities for them to move is about the worst way you can go about doing that.”

Dairy breeding tool becoming popular in beef (Beef Magazine)

Dr. David Bohnert, Director and Professor, Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center, Burns & Union Stations, Oregon State University says the challenge with sexed semen in the beef industry is that we don’t use AI as much.  This is partly just logistics; it is difficult on large extensive operations to get the cows in for a week to get synchronized and bred or check for estrus.  A person has to be really committed to doing AI, he says.

How to prune roses (MSN)

"Neglecting to prune your roses will lead to unproductive shrubs," says Oregon State University professor and extension horticulturist Amy Jo Detweiler. Pruning roses promotes new growth and flowering, helps maintain plant health, and on some species encourages repeat blooming.
