How inflation is impacting Oregonians' Thanksgiving this year (KEZI)

Oregon State University marketing professor Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay said data shows that people are spending more this Thanksgiving despite inflation. "I was looking at information from the National Retail Federation and they're expecting that in spite of inflation being higher, consumers are going to be spending more," said Reynolds-McIlnay. "There is data that suggests that consumers are starting earlier, shopping and looking for gifts."

Like children, researchers found that dogs are influenced by parenting styles. According to recent findings published by Oregon State University, dogs with owners who have high expectations and are highly responsive to their dog’s behavior and needs, are more social, more secure when away from their owners, and are more persistent problem solvers.

Andrea Ballinger, vice provost for information and technology and chief information officer for Oregon State University, has been recognized with the 2022 Info-Tech CIO Award in the Growth Leader category. The CIO Awards program is a unique, data-driven awards program that honors top IT leaders who have demonstrated exceptional value for their organization.
 

Oregon State volleyball coach retiring after troubled tenure (KOB)

Oregon State volleyball coach Mark Barnard will retire at the end of the season, closing a tenure marked by frequent roster turnover, player allegations of emotional abuse and the school’s long-running lawsuit against The Associated Press to withhold records about the athletic department’s response to complaints.

The Career Champions program provides faculty and instructors with tangible ways to incorporate career connection into the classroom while advancing diversity, equity and inclusion and examining the barriers to access for first-generation, high-financial need, and/or students of color. Free COVID tests: Free iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Tests are available on the Corvallis and Bend campuses and at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Each box contains two tests. While supplies last, OSU community members can pick up these self-test kits without restrictions. Please note the FDA has extended the self-test kit expiration dates by six months.
