Faculty Grant Training: The OSU Foundation is presenting a faculty training, “Prospect & RFP Research,” at the new OSU Foundation Office, 4238 SW Research Way on Friday, Nov. 9, from  2 to 3:30 p.m. The training will focus on methods and resources for finding private foundation funding opportunities. Vistas & Vineyards 29th Anniversary Juried Show: The Giustina Gallery at The LaSells Stewart Center is hosting the 29th anniversary of the Vistas & Vineyards juried show. This show exhibits the talents of more than 60 local artists and runs from Nov. 2 to Dec. 9. The opening reception is on Nov. 9 from 6-8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Fall Open House: The OSU Astronomy Club will host an open house on Nov. 9, 7-10 p.m., Weniger Hall. They will discuss the cosmos, telescopes, give away free NASA posters, and host a local astronomer who will be conduct remote observations from a telescope in New Mexico, and demonstrate the process of how astronomical photographs are captured and processed.

Theater auditions: Auditions for Oregon State University Theatre’s winter production, “The Little Prince,” will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 10 and Nov. 13 in the Withycombe Hall main stage theatre, 2901 S.W. Campus Way, Corvallis. Performance dates are March 1-3 and March 8-10 with technical and dress rehearsals Feb. 24 through March 2. All performers must be available for all technical rehearsals and performances. Rehearsals will begin Jan. 8 and generally run Sundays through Thursdays until technical rehearsal week. Clothing swap: A clothing swap is taking place Nov. 1-30 at the Hattie Redmond Women & Gender Center on campus. Accepting gently used clothing donations for all gender identities, ages and sizes. No donations necessary to participate. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Fiddle choir: The touring fiddle choir Childsplay will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in The LaSells Stewart Center, 875 S.W. 26th St., on the Oregon State University campus in Corvallis. Led by violin maker Robert Childs, Childsplay is comprised of more than 20 musicians from around the U.S. and Ireland, with each member of the string section playing a violin or viola handmade by Childs. Discounted season ticket packages, four-performance mini-plans and individual event tickets are now on sale. Tickets for Childsplay are $30 to $35 in advance and $35 to $40 at the door. Board of Trustees: The Executive and Audit Committee of the OSU Board of Trustees will hold a telephonic meeting from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, to consider a recommendation of potential candidates for an anticipated trustee vacancy, the board’s 2020 calendar, and an audit progress report. The committee also will receive the annual compliance and ethics program report, an annual Office of General Counsel report, and a legislative update. Room 207 within the university’s Memorial Union will be open to the public as a site for listening to this meeting. The public also can listen to the meeting by calling the toll-free number listed on the agenda. Science Pub: William Ripple, a distinguished professor in the College of Forestry at Oregon State University who has drawn worldwide attention for his research on wolves and other predators, and for publishing a scientists’ warning to humanity, will speak at the Corvallis Science Pub on Monday, Nov. 12. Ripple’s presentation, “From wolves to the Warning to Humanity: Facing the Environmental Crisis through Science,” will be hosted by Worthy Brewing and the Worthy Garden Club. Faculty Senate Elections – Non-Tenured Faculty with Split Appointments: According to the Faculty Senate bylaws (http://senate.oregonstate.edu/bylaws Article V. Sec. 1.) non-tenured faculty who have split appointments between two apportionment units may choose with which unit they wish to be apportioned for senate purposes; this choice will determine senate representation. For example, if a faculty member has a split appointment between Agricultural Sciences and Science, they may choose one or the other (FTE will not be split among units). Faculty not choosing where they wish to be apportioned will be placed in an apportionment unit at the discretion of the Faculty Senate Office.
