Camera traps are an important tool for the future in the management of many pests, including codling moth, especially since market trends have the industry shifting toward organic methods, said Chris Adams, an Oregon State University assistant professor of tree fruit entomology and chair of the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission codling moth task force.

Information Security Symposium: The Office of Information Security and ASOSU Office of Advocacy are collaborating for a Zoom symposium on Oct. 25 from 4-5 p.m. In celebration of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, this will give students and faculty a look into the private and public sector of cybersecurity, as well as tools on how to protect themselves from scams and phishing. 

Decolonizing Western Pasts: How Public History and Writing Can Inform Each Other. Environmental historian Daniel Grant writes and teaches about multiracial migrations in the North American West. Grant will discuss combining archival research with public history, and will share lessons from his work with Indigenous, African American and Anglo communities in Yuma, Arizona. Free. Housing fire safety: Students who live away from home should recognize fire safety features present in their living space. Here are some tips to stay safe: Look for a fully sprinklered building when choosing a place to live. Make sure your sleeping area is protected with a smoke alarm inside the room. Test the smoke detector(s) monthly. Learn your building’s evacuation plan and practice the drill for muscle memory. Stay in the kitchen when cooking and only cook when you're alert.
