The testing will be done by Oregon State University labs and is funded through an Oregon Health Authority grant. The project will cost an estimated $155,806. The CDC is also keeping its eye on the results to see if it is a viable tool in the future.

This could play a role in more accurately predicting the effects of major quakes (and thus tsunamis) that happen along this offshore region, such as the big one in 1700 and the massive one that is still coming.

Crucial Conversations for Mastering Dialogue: This 10-hour course teaches skills for creating alignment and agreement by fostering open dialogue around high-stakes, emotional, or risky topics at all levels of your organization. By learning how to speak and be heard (and encouraging others to do the same), you’ll surface the best ideas, make the highest-quality decisions, and then act on those decisions with unity and commitment. This program consists of a series of five live, online sessions on Wednesdays 1-3 p.m. Aug. 17-Sept. 14. Core Curriculum for OSU Managers and Supervisors: The Core Curriculum for Managers and Supervisors is a training program for all OSU managers, supervisors and lead workers. NEW! Driving study participants wanted: The OSU School of Civil and Construction Engineering seeks research study participants who are at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. Individuals with contact lenses or prescription lenses can participate in this study. The study purpose is to make newer intersection designs and make the roadway safer for all users. Participants will be paid for their involvement, which requires a time commitment of approximately one hour and coming to the OSU Driving Simulator Laboratory. Traffic and Maintenance

NEW! Jefferson Way: For work related to the Community Hall Slope Project, there will be a closure of the fire lane and sidewalk south of the Valley Library along SW Jefferson Way (view map). The closure of the fire lane and sidewalk has been extended through Friday, July 22. As part of the planned work, grinding, saw cutting, and concrete and asphalt demolition will occur.

NEW! Campus Way: For work related to the Milam Hall Re-roof project, SW Campus Way at the 26th Street intersection is scheduled to be closed from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 (view map). There will be construction activity occurring in the area.
