Oregon's drought continues, but there's hope (Democrat-Herald)

NEW! Nahuel Guaita MPP defense: The Kaya equation measures the impact of the growth rate from gross domestic product per capita, population, energy intensity and carbon intensity on CO2 flows. Knowing the direct effect of these factors is necessary for policymakers to work more efficiently to address the climate change caused by CO2 emissions. Conference scholarship: Applications for the Gender Advocacy and Inclusion Network (GAIN) in Higher Education 2023 conference scholarship now open. The President's Commission on the Status of Women (PCOSW) is offering scholarships to cover early registration costs for the 2023 GAIN conference. This year’s conference will be held in Ashland from April 26-28. OSU faculty, professional faculty, staff, students and OSU community members are eligible to apply. Preference is given to those who have not been funded in the past for the in-person conference. The scholarship application deadline is Dec. 9. DO NOT register for the GAIN conference if you are applying for a scholarship until you are approved. Once approved, you will be sent a special registration link for the conference. Now accepting FYI Friday proposals for Winter 2023: Does your team have a new or existing service, process, system, policy, or research you want to share with the campus community? Consider FYI Friday as your venue. Campus partners are invited to present what they’ve been working on to a broad audience of professional faculty, academic faculty and classified staff – presentations can be anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours in length; it’s up to you. Learn more about the requirements and application process. Participate in the Cannabis and Regulation of Emotion (CARE) Study: Are you 21-30 years-old, fluent in English, and a U.S. citizen? Do you use cannabis? The purpose of this research is to understand how cannabis use is related to emotional functioning. Textbook lending library: Students invited to request textbooks: The Basic Needs Center is stocking their Textbook Lending Library and invites students experiencing financial barriers to request books for next term in exchange for getting first priority to check them out through this free program. Free COVID tests: Free iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Tests are available on the Corvallis and Bend campuses and at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Each box contains two tests. While supplies last, OSU community members can pick up these self-test kits without restrictions. Please note the FDA has extended the self-test kit expiration dates by six months.

Traffic and Maintenance

Street and sidewalk closure on Washington Way: As part of the Washington Way Improvement Project, SW Washington Way will be closed daily between SW 26th and SW 17th Streets to begin water line replacement. Work will occur Nov. 30, 2022 through Jan. 6 from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. This portion of Washington Way will reopen to vehicle traffic after 5 p.m. daily. (View map) The sidewalk on the north side of Washington Way will also be closed, and an alternate pedestrian route will be identified with signage.
