Oregon NASA Space Grant Consortium 2022 Fall Student Symposium: Oregon NASA Space Grant Consortium is hosting its Fall 2022 Student Symposium on Nov. 10, beginning at 9 a.m. The symposium will be hosted in person at LaSells Stewart Center. November Research Integrity Forum: Join the Research Office for “Research Data and the New NIH Data Management Policy.” In this forum we will discuss some of the types of data that researchers can generate and encounter, what managing data might entail and why it is important, and the available resources at OSU to help. Student Health Advisory Board: OSU students, do you care about the health and well-being of the OSU community? Do you want to get involved in administrative processes and have an impact? Are you interested in being a voice for students in health initiatives? Apply to join the Student Health Advisory Board (SHAB). Applications are due Nov. 28 at 5 p.m.: SHAB Application 2022-2023.

Call for applications: Faculty are invited to participate in implementing the new general education curriculum approved by the Faculty Senate in October. We seek 40-50 faculty volunteers to develop the learning outcomes, criteria and rational (LOCRs) for the new curriculum. These faculty will serve on 10 workgroups, one for each category. There are two main roles: LOCR developers and LOCR mentors. Application deadline is Nov. 16. MLK awards: Nominations are open for the 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Awards, honoring OSU community members who exemplify qualities of service and selflessness. This year, nominations will be accepted for four awards – the Phyllis S. Lee Award, the Frances Dancy Hooks Award, the Oscar Humberto Montemayor Award and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alumni Legacy Award. The Music Technology and Production program at OSU is producing an album during winter and spring terms. We are soliciting songwriters from around campus to send us a demo of an original song for possible inclusion. We will select the best tracks and pair each artist(s) with students in the MTP program to record and produce the song. $15K of Funding Available: The OSU Advantage Innovation Impact Program is currently seeking applications that describe technology-based projects in any discipline that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Each project may be awarded up to $15,000 and should span nine months or less, beginning in January 2023. Proposals are due by 5 p.m., Nov. 30. Call for Applications: Career Champions Program. Applications for the winter 2023 Career Champions program for teaching faculty and instructors are now being accepted. The Career Champions program provides faculty and instructors with tangible ways to incorporate career connection into the classroom while advancing diversity, equity and inclusion and examining the barriers to access for first-generation, high-financial need, and/or students of color. Free COVID tests: Free iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Tests are available on the Corvallis and Bend campuses and at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Each box contains two tests. While supplies last, OSU community members can pick up these self-test kits without restrictions. Please note the FDA has extended the self-test kit expiration dates by six months.

Traffic and Maintenance

Lane closure on SW Washington Way through Nov. 10: As part of the Washington Way Improvement Project, there will be a one-lane closure with flagging operations on SW Washington Way between SW 35th and SW 30th Streets. Work is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, starting Monday, Oct. 24 and continuing through Thursday, Nov. 10 (view map).
