Today in the News Media is a synopsis of some of the most prominent coverage of OSU people and programs. That means that something other than CO2 was likely driving the cooling, says Peter Clark, a glaciologist at Oregon State University in Corvallis. One such driver could be the cumulative buildup of ice across the Northern Hemisphere; such ice would reflect sunlight back into space, cooling the atmosphere.

Impact Studio Sessions: Join Rich Duncombe, Impact Studio director, today, Oct. 31 from noon to 1 p.m., in MU 215 Thought Lab for a conversation about the 2019 Impact Studio initiatives. Farm, Fork & Glass: Roots & Growth in U.K. Sustainable Agriculture: Join Dawn Moyer, lead academic advisor, and Jonathan Velez, professor and department head in the College of Agricultural Sciences, for a two-week faculty-led study abroad program in the UK from June 28 through July 11, 2020. This program focuses on the traditional and contemporary practices of growing, distributing and consuming agricultural products in the UK and simultaneously explores the cities, farms and industries surrounding Nottingham, Cheltenham, Oxford and Edinburgh. Representatives from the EC, Vice Provost Alix Gitelman’s office and the Faculty Senate Baccalaureate Core Committee will attend each meeting to hear your ideas. Vistas and Vineyards 30th Anniversary Show Opening Reception: Vistas and Vineyards is celebrating 30 years of painting outdoors, and they are sharing their work with the community. Over 45 of their current member artists and several founding members will display 120 works of art painted in plein aire. Faculty Conversations with President Ray: In an ongoing effort to improve communication lines between the faculty and administration, the Faculty Senate Executive Committee is sponsoring Fall term small group conversations with President Ray and faculty (academic, research and professional). Journey Into Leadership: The Center for Learning & Organizational Development, Office of Human Resources, is accepting applications from academic faculty, professional faculty and classified employees for the Journey Into Leadership program through Friday, Nov. 1. Goat Discovery Day at Pleasant Hill High School: This is an educational event for both the experienced and beginner goat farmer. Classes, displays and hands-on learning. Saturday Nov. 2, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at Pleasant Hill High School, 36386 OR-58 in Pleasant Hill. Session topics include goat health and disease management, milking, FAMACHA training, packing with goats, hay and forage nutrition, milking and milking machines, goat conformation and more. Seeking Volunteers for Cat Behavior Research: The Human-Animal Interaction lab is looking for participants in a study researching attachment between pairs of cats who share the same household. The test consists of two separate 15-minute visits to our lab in Withycombe Hall on the OSU campus. Cats of any age/breed/etc are eligible to participate as long as they are in good health. Yogurt Consumers: Participants wanted for a research study examining factors that drive consumer purchases of yogurt.
