OSU Society for the Advancement of Chicanos\LatinXs and Native Americans in Science: SACNAS Chapter students, advisors and college recruiters just returned from the largest National Diversity in STEM Conference in the country in Puerto Rico with over 6,000 attendees. Reception for the Art of Construction Exhibition: The Giustina Gallery at The LaSells Stewart Center is excited to present 51 works of art by 23 Oregon artists that reflect on the history and progress of construction in Oregon. Beaver Boosters: OSU will be providing COVID-19 booster clinics on the OSU Corvallis campus, Tuesday, Nov. 15 through Thursday, Nov. 17, from noon to 4 p.m. in Memorial Union Room 62. Forest Management Plan Listening Session: There will be a public listening session Thursday, Nov. 17 from 6-7:30 p.m. via Zoom to discuss recent drafts of the Forest Management Plan (FMP) being developed by OSU. WGSS 611 Colloquium Series: “haʔɫ kʷ(i) adsəslabcebut/Watch Over Yourself Well: (Re)writing Two-Spirit Coast Salish Bodies through Canoe-Based Practices.” Kyles Gemmell centers Coast Salish canoe-based practices as a means of understanding Coast Salish Two-Spirit critiques and identities. Their research centers canoe rules that community members are to abide by as a means of developing a culturally relevant methodological approach to research. My People Are Rising: The History and Legacy of the Black Panthers in the PNW. Talk by Aaron Dixon, community activist, co-founder and captain of the Black Panther Party, Seattle chapter. Dixon co-founded the Seattle chapter of the Black Panther Party in 1968. NEW! Call for applications: Faculty are invited to participate in implementing the new general education curriculum approved by the Faculty Senate in October. We seek 40-50 faculty volunteers to develop the learning outcomes, criteria and rational (LOCRs) for the new curriculum. These faculty will serve on 10 workgroups, one for each category. There are two main roles: LOCR developers and LOCR mentors. Application deadline is Nov. 16. NEW! MLK awards: Nominations are open for the 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Awards, honoring OSU community members who exemplify qualities of service and selflessness. This year, nominations will be accepted for four awards – the Phyllis S. Lee Award, the Frances Dancy Hooks Award, the Oscar Humberto Montemayor Award and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alumni Legacy Award. NEW! The Music Technology and Production program at OSU is producing an album during winter and spring terms. We are soliciting songwriters from around campus to send us a demo of an original song for possible inclusion. We will select the best tracks and pair each artist(s) with students in the MTP program to record and produce the song. Survey on Motivation in Rabbits: The Human-Animal Interaction lab at OSU is currently researching rabbit behavior. CFP — 2023-24 OSU Humanities Fellowships: The OSU Center for the Humanities is now accepting applications for 2023-2024 Flexible Humanities Fellowships. Join a Conversation on Student Success: The Academic Success Center (ASC) & Writing Center publish The Success Kitchen once or twice a term. $15K of Funding Available: The OSU Advantage Innovation Impact Program is currently seeking applications that describe technology-based projects in any discipline that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Each project may be awarded up to $15,000 and should span nine months or less, beginning in January 2023. Proposals are due by 5 p.m., Nov. 30. Call for Applications: Career Champions Program. Applications for the winter 2023 Career Champions program for teaching faculty and instructors are now being accepted. The Career Champions program provides faculty and instructors with tangible ways to incorporate career connection into the classroom while advancing diversity, equity and inclusion and examining the barriers to access for first-generation, high-financial need, and/or students of color. Free COVID tests: Free iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Tests are available on the Corvallis and Bend campuses and at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Each box contains two tests. While supplies last, OSU community members can pick up these self-test kits without restrictions. Please note the FDA has extended the self-test kit expiration dates by six months.

Traffic and Maintenance

Lane closure on SW Washington Way through Nov. 10: As part of the Washington Way Improvement Project, there will be a one-lane closure with flagging operations on SW Washington Way between SW 35th and SW 30th Streets. Work is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, starting Monday, Oct. 24 and continuing through Thursday, Nov. 10 (view map).
