Why some fish are really bad at swimming (National Geographic)

Atlantic salmon use magnetic fields to navigate, even when landlocked (UPI)

"If we put them into an extreme northern field, would they 'course-correct' and align themselves in a southerly direction, and vice-versa? And the answer was yes." (see also Science DailyKTVZ)

Kelsy Kretschmer, who teaches at Oregon State University and co-authored the recent study on single versus married women’s voting patterns, told the Guardian the Kavanaugh polling on white women and conservative talking points are very much in line with her own research. “It’s consistent with the ideas that we put forward in the paper, which is that married white women’s interests change, and they start to think about their husbands interests as their own,” she said.

Robots gone soft (Terra Magazine)

To fulfill that mandate, Kincaid’s department teamed up with the Oregon State University Extension Service and the Oregon Department of Forestry in 2017 to create the Oregon Bee Project. Their mission is to expand our understanding of local bees, to increase their habitat through working with farmers and gardeners (beginning with a Flagship Farm program), and to protect them from pesticide exposure and disease, in part by training pesticide applicators.
