Oregon State University professor of political science David Bernell said these kinds of campaigns to get people to vote are becoming familiar. "I’m surprised that there is increasingly aggressive language and tactics in terms of getting your side out to vote, whoever the particular side is," he said.

Julie Judkins started in October as department head of Special Collections and Archives Research Center (SCARC) at Oregon State University. A native Oregonian, she was previously the assistant department head of special collections with the University of North Texas Libraries and was a non-tenure track faculty librarian, which included scholarship, teaching and service.
An Oregon State University senior was named top collegiate graphic designer in the nation, two OSU student magazines were recognized as being among the country’s best and OSU student journalists received more than 25 awards at several recent national media conferences.

Beaver Boosters: OSU will be providing COVID-19 booster clinics on the OSU Corvallis campus, Tuesday, Nov. 15 through Thursday, Nov. 17, from noon to 4 p.m. in Memorial Union Room 62. Clinics are open to the public and will provide updated bivalent boosters for individuals 5 and older, plus COVID-19 vaccine for ages 6 months and older, while supplies last. Capital projects forum: A webinar forum regarding university housing takes place Nov. 3 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. This event will provide updates on the Upper Division Undergraduate and Graduate Student Housing project, recent improvements in campus housing and a look at the vision for campus housing and dining in Corvallis. FYI Friday – How to Submit a Course Proposal in CIM: A good course proposal needs to be clear, strategic, and aligned with the academic policies. OSU uses Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM) software as an online platform for curricular proposal submission and review. This course demonstrates how to navigate CIM to successfully submit a course proposal and explains the curriculum review workflow in a nutshell. NEW! $15K of Funding Available: The OSU Advantage Innovation Impact Program is currently seeking applications that describe technology-based projects in any discipline that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Each project may be awarded up to $15,000 and should span nine months or less, beginning in January 2023. Proposals are due by 5 p.m., Nov. 30. Contact [email protected] with questions. NEW! Call for Applications: Career Champions Program. Applications for the winter 2023 Career Champions program for teaching faculty and instructors are now being accepted. The Career Champions program provides faculty and instructors with tangible ways to incorporate career connection into the classroom while advancing diversity, equity and inclusion and examining the barriers to access for first-generation, high-financial need, and/or students of color. Policy update: 03-140-401 Travel has been revised to clarify guidelines for pre-trip registration (section 3.1). The revised policy also provides additional requirements/restrictions for lodging booked through online platforms (section 3.3.3) to mitigate the risks associated with vacation rentals (such as AirBnB and VRBO). OSU's Open Educational Resources Unit is accepting proposals for the Affordable Learning Grant until Nov. 30: The grant provides funding to adopt, adapt or author an open educational resource, such as a textbook. An open textbook is one that is published under an open copyright license and is made freely available online for students, faculty and the public. All funding is a department-to-department transfer. Free COVID tests: Free iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Tests are available on the Corvallis and Bend campuses and at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Each box contains two tests. While supplies last, OSU community members can pick up these self-test kits without restrictions. Please note the FDA has extended the self-test kit expiration dates by six months.
Lane closure on SW Washington Way through Nov. 10: As part of the Washington Way Improvement Project, there will be a one-lane closure with flagging operations on SW Washington Way between SW 35th and SW 30th Streets. Work is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, starting Monday, Oct. 24 and continuing through Thursday, Nov. 10 (view map).
