Jenna Sullivan, a Ph.D. student in integrative biology in the College of Science, is one of 10 recipients of the Ecological Society of America’s 2018 Katherine S. McCarter Graduate Student Policy Award.

The award provides students with the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., for policy experience and training.

Sullivan works in the marine community ecology lab of Bruce Menge and Jane Lubchenco, using the Oregon coast rocky intertidal system to gain insights into how human-induced changes affect individual species and their interactions.

Sullivan’s research focuses on the keystone sea star, Pisaster ochraceus, and she is characterizing the community effects of the decline in this top predator as a result of sea star wasting disease.
