Silvia Rondon has been appointed director of the Oregon Integrated Pest Management Center (OIPMC) effective July 1.

Rondon is a renowned expert in IPM, with expertise in the irrigated crops of eastern Oregon, and has worked closely with multiple commodity groups since joining the Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences in 2005 at the Hermiston Agricultural Research and Extension Center. Her appointment will help strengthen our IPM Center to focus on IPM issues and opportunities in Oregon and the west, enhancing the college’s strategic goal to help industries compete in their markets, domestically and globally.

Rondon is an active member of the Entomological Society of America, where she serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion task force and led the organization of the first Latino/Hispanic Symposium in her professional society—now on its ninth year.
