Spotlight on: The new OSU President’s Commission on Latino/a/e Affairs

Oscar Zepeda, integrated marketing and communications manager with University Relations and Marketing, is the co-chair of PCLA, which was formally established in October 2025. The commission is holding its inaugural event, “Nuestra Voz, Nuestro Comienzo,” from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Centro Cultural César Chávez to introduce the commission and its goals to the university.

Parking on the Corvallis campus can be a polarizing topic. Car commuting is necessary for many, but also causes environmental problems and safety risks. Obtaining a parking permit and finding spaces in popular lots during peak times can lead to frustration for drivers.

Before Benny Beaver became an icon, there was Ken Austin, a spirited Oregon State student who brought the mascot to life with a handmade costume and a dream to entertain the crowd. Hear from Ken himself, OSU’s first Benny Beaver, as he reflects on how the experience shaped his confidence, his community and his lifelong pride in Oregon State University. Ken Austin (1931-2019) graduated from the College of Business in 1953. Austin Hall is named for his family's long-standing commitment and generosity to the college. Once a Beaver, always a Beaver.

OSU residence halls hosted nearly 10,000 guests in summer 2025

With students gone, campus can feel sleepy and quiet during the summer months — but OSU’s residence halls are anything but.

In summer 2025, University Housing & Dining Services hosted nearly 10,000 guests with 81 groups that came to the Corvallis campus for athletic camps, faith-based camps, academic pursuits and more. With groups staying varying amounts of time, UHDS logged more than 30,000 total guest nights this summer.
