Oregon State University kinesiology major Annika Phillips won a sailing world championship in Seattle last fall, and this September, she hopes to do it again in England.
CEOAS professor’s conflict-mapping group wins European Space Agency award
The Decentralized Damage Mapping Group (DDMG), founded by geography professor Jamon Van Den Hoek in OSU’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, is receiving the 2025 Earth Observation Excellence Award from the European Space Agency, NASA’s European counterpart.

Marine scientist Itchung Cheung is an assistant professor of practice in OSU’s College of Science, as well as the academic programs manager at Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. He specializes in experiential learning, outreach and student research training. Over spring break, he co-led a student trip to Aruba.
