Life at OSU

Oregon State University’s Science Pub on April 11 will focus on how early educators can nurture resilience through daily interactions with children and their families and how community members can further aid those efforts.

Lamar Hurd, a well-known youth ambassador and broadcaster for the Portland Trail Blazers, Oregon State University alumnus and member of the university’s Board of Trustees, will deliver the commencement address at OSU’s 153rd graduation ceremony June 11.

The Oregon State University Board of Trustees will meet April 8 to consider tuition rates and student fees for the 2022-23 academic year, the university’s 10-year financial forecast and a funding request to the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission.

Staci Simonich, a nationally recognized researcher and faculty member who has held numerous leadership positions at Oregon State University over two decades, has been named dean of the university’s College of Agricultural Sciences and director of the Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station. As dean, she is also appointed the Reub A. Long Professor.

Federal spending legislation signed into law yesterday includes funding for several Oregon State University initiatives, including a wave energy project on the Oregon Coast, a study of the impacts of wildfires on drinking water and a professional certification program for mass timber design.
