OSU Human Resources benefits team hosting several financial literacy classes this month for employees
To help Oregon State employees better understand their retirement savings options, as well as other financial benefits available to them, the University Human Resources benefits team is holding a series of financial literacy classes during the week of April 21.
OSU HR transitioning to ‘employees’ and specific terms in place of ‘faculty and staff’ for clarity
To communicate more clearly with the university community, Oregon State University Human Resources is moving away from the phrase “faculty and staff” and will instead use “employees” when referring broadly to everyone who works at the university.
Furthermore, when referring to specific groups of employees, HR will use their specific employment terms — academic faculty, professional faculty, graduate employees and so forth.
New affinity group aims to build community for OSU’s veteran employees
For many military veterans, the transition from service to civilian life comes with unique challenges — ones that don’t necessarily end after securing a job. At Oregon State University, many veterans have felt there was no dedicated space for them to connect, share resources or advocate for their needs. That is changing with the formation of BEAVS (Beaver Employee Association for Veteran Success), a new affinity group designed to support OSU’s veteran employees.
New OSU website collects career growth resources in one easy-to-find place for current and prospective employees
A new website created by Oregon State University Human Resources aims to be a one-stop shop for anyone looking for tips to help them advance their career.
The Career Growth Resources page brings together checklists, worksheets and other documentation to help guide folks through job searching, applications, interviewing, settling into a new job, and finding opportunities for professional development in their current career.
Supervisor 101 training helps new supervisors start off on the right foot
In Supervisor 101, a training series started by University Human Resources this fall, new supervisors are given an in-depth overview of the legal and managerial responsibilities their positions entail, along with opportunities for small-group discussion.
Expanded training for supervisors is an investment in the overall health of the university and its employees, said Carolyn Warfield, director of academic HR strategies and one of the lead trainers.

To address this, OSU University Information Technology team is focusing on proactive outreach and education that focuses on prevention, smart strategies and reaching students in a fun (not scary) way.
